Our hope is that this episode will inspire you to take that step of faith to start again in your relationship with God.
01:47 Here’s a quick recap of our current discipleship series. Check out our previous episodes. We hope these will help you this season.
Dean: In this episode, we will talk about “Gusto Kong Bumalik sa Church Pero Nahihiya Ako”
JV: We hope this episode will help you jumpstart or have the courage to come back to God…Sa lahat ng nahihiyang bumalik, I believe there’s a certain awkwardness or weirdness sa pagbabalik lalo na pag leader ka sa isang church community. We hope that this will be a safe environment for all of us. If you need someone to talk to about this matter, please message us.
Dean: The goal of these conversations ⏤ starting from our previous episodes up to now is to create a safe environment for us to converse. It doesn’t end here…
JV: Maybe for some may mga tanong din. Bakit nga ba ako babalik? May babalikan pa ba? Paano nga ba babalik?
JV: We want everyone to understand that God is the one who pursues us first, more than us pursuing Him…
Dean: Here are some steps or pointers that could be helpful for us… We are not saying that these are the only steps necessary, but this is something that we need to journey in and let someone else help us with. At the same time, we need to recognize that God is at work…
“Saan nga ba ako babalik?” Ito yung una nating tanong. Babalik ba ako sa facility? Babalik ba ako sa community? Babalik ba ako sa activity? Babalik ba ako sa volunteering? If all these things feel empty to us then parang wala lang yung pagbalik natin.
Dean: Una sa lahat na kailangan nating maintindihan, we come back to God ⏤ we come back to Jesus. Because some of us probably walked away not only from the relationships in the church, not only from the facility, not only from volunteering opportunities, but we have walked away from a Person. We have walked away from Jesus. We have walked away from God.
Like the story in Luke 15, The Prodigal Son, a parable shared by Jesus to His disciples, this tells us about the welcoming back of a loving father for a rebellious son… At the lowest of lows of the son who left and squandered away his inheritance, when he came to his senses, he came back to his dad. His dad welcomed him (without question).
I hope that if you think na ikaw yun. You’re thinking, parang tinakbuhan ko nga si God, just come back. Don’t practice a script. Just come back. Come back home. You are welcome. You are forgiven. You are cared for by our Father in heaven through Jesus Christ.
JV: It’s something that’s very securing knowing na sa pagbalik mo, hindi to dahil sa babalik ka pero kung sino si Jesus sa buhay mo. Kung paano Siya naghihintay para sa’yo. At the end of the day, it’s really about coming back to Him, not to everything that we can do for God. It’s comforting that it’s not our ability or the power to come back, but God’s power for us to be able to come back…
If you are that person who is wondering to come back, I hope that you will come to a point that you are going to come back because it is Jesus who has been waiting for you all along.
Dean: As dirty as the son who went back home, the dad welcomed him. ‘Wag mo nang isipin kung paano mo babaguhin ang sarili mo kasi sa totoo lang di naman natin kayang baguhin ang sarili natin and that’s why we need God.
Paano natin sisimulan yun? Few tips or pointers that we can give. Simulan mo na mag-pray ulit… Slowly and surely… you grow in the steps of following Jesus one step at a time. Loving our Heavenly Father one step at a time…
JV: We are emphasizing our relationship with God because this is the foundation of everything as go through again in your walk with God… Coming back to your relationship with God is the most important thing that you can do as you decide to journey again with God.
Dean: We come back NOT to a facility, NOT to a community, but first to our Father in Heaven. We come back to God Himself.
Dean: Secondly, we come back to key relationships… ‘Di kailangang buong church kaagad.. In reality, kung mahirap bumalik, sino ‘yung pwede nating puntahan muna? Alam nyo ba na sa pagbabalik nyo, most likely, yung church ⏤ yung mga friends nyo sa church, yung mga pastors nyo, yung mga campus missionaries nyo, would love to see you back… Start and try talking to one person you can trust most at this season. Kasi di natin inaalis yung reality na baka di mo pa kayang magtiwala ulit pero kanino ka pinaka-komportable sa tingin mo, please take that moment. Consider to approach the person that you think you can trust the most at this time.
JV: When you come back to key relationships, ito yung mga tao that can be trusted. You will also allow them to speak life to you and journey with you.
Dean: To the leaders out there, please welcome them without prejudice. Welcome them as the loving Father welcomes His son (who repents).
JV: If you are not comfortable anymore with the current church community that you are part of, it’s okay to choose another location for you to grow.
JV: I believe that it’s also important that when we come back, we will journey in forgiveness… Forgiveness from God… If there is shame and guilt, alam mo lang that you are forgiven, you are loved, you are chosen, you are accepted by God…
Dean: At the same time, kailangan nating matutunan na patawarin yung sarili natin… Please give yourself room for error… When we come back to God, He would graciously forgive accept you and forgive you…
JV: Lastly, forgiving others… because you have understood that the Lord has graciously forgiven you.
Dean: If we don’t journey in forgiveness, it’s going to be an unending cycle of unforgiveness in our hearts. I hope that we learn to journey in forgiveness alongside God and the key relationships that we have.
To the leaders out there, I hope that we will be on the lookout for people or our friends that we haven’t seen in a while. Stay connected. Don’t give up on them.
